The hot dog cart on the corner still remains a fixture of New York’s culinary landscape. But a new wave of street vendors aren’t content to stand still and hope customers find them. Equipped with mobile kitchens and mobile broadband, they roam the urban landscape, luring the crowds to them via social media.
It’s very interesting to see how, in connected cities, people are embracing social media on an every increasing level.
I think with a population like ours, which doesnt do much ‘mobile’ dining, but does a lot of street/vendor business, could really get into this.
Sure there are limitations such compatible device market share, and internet/connectivity rates, but I think there is a good possibility that someone could make a mark using this in South Africa.
